More than 100 different organizations ranging from BPO companies to Next Wave cities gathered together last February 8-9, 2010 for the
10th e-Services Global Sourcing Conference and Exhibition at the SMX Convention Center. In accordance with the world’s more positive outlook on business, this year’s theme was
“Bright Skies Ahead: Collaborating for Smarter Business Solutions.”
The event officially began with a keynote speech from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo after which visitors roamed around from booth to booth checking out different e-services designed to help move businesses forward. To help companies meet other companies (e.g. E-nablers with Trade Services), a business matching area was set up while others gave out 20-minute presentations in the stage area.
As these corporate events go, every company had its own promotional strategy. While others had “buy 3, get 1 free” gimmicks, some offered raffle tickets to Macau.
Netmarks Philippines Inc. and
Riverbed, which collaborated to promote
The WAN Revolution, took theirs to the next level. Besides the usual freebies, they had two men dressed up in
“katipunero” costumes going around the area to promote their winning WAN strategy—one they called
“Unbelievable IT” because of its ability to make
“3,000 miles feel like 30 feet.”
Despite having only 20 minutes to present,
Riverbed Marketing Director Mr. Paul Serrano’s topic “Enabling Today’s Critical IT Programs and Initiatives” left quite an impression on the audience.
The two-day affair ended with everyone learning more about the industry they all play a part in.
